TEDxCopenhagen is an organization run by volunteers that wants to show that we have ideas here in Denmark that are worth sharing with the rest of the world. This happens primarily through a conference that is held for 640 participants each year, and seen by thousands on an international level through live streaming and YouTube videos.
The main conference is held once a year, but there are also smaller events to showcase and promote via the site and newsletter.
TEDxCopenhagen needed a platform to show their previous events, but also to talk about coming events and tell their large community about various efforts.
Together with Bysted we set the overall strategy for the site, and they delivered the graphic design. In cooperation with Bysted we have built up a responsive site that in an elegant fashion showcases events, speakers, news and partners.
We have also stood for full integration of the social media platforms that TEDxCopenhagen uses.
A feature that TEDxCopenhagen have been very happy about is a module for the event program which means that they since September 2013 have been able to run their conferences completely without a printed program. The program is exclusively online – of course adapted to both tablets and smartphones – and updates dynamically during the day, whilst at the same time enabling visitors to follow activity on both Twitter and Instagram. The advantage is not only in saving on print costs, but also that changes can be made at the last minute before kick off.
An important part of the communication to the TEDxCopenhagen community is through the newsletter. It is strongly branded, and focis is on short news, with the possibility to link to the site for further information or articles. The separation of different lists gives TEDxCopenhagen the opportunity to send to different target groups, e.g. upcoming conference participants or previous participants. In this way they can continually adapt the content so that it stays relevant for the recipients and get direct feedback from their community.
